October 15, 2009 — H & R Accounts Inc. has received the ACA’s Professional Practices Management System (PPMS) “Certified” designation for an eight consecutive year. In addition to the re-certification of its H & R and MedPay Management Systems divisions, this year the company’s Preferred Medical Deposit division earned its certification for the first time.
H & R Accounts is one of a few providers nationwide (less than 1% of companies in the industry) awarded the ACA International’s Professional Practices Management System (PPMS) certification. Since the program’s inception in 2000, H & R Accounts was the 9th company certified and only the 3rd company certified with multiple locations. H & R Accounts has successfully maintained its PPMS certifications since 2002.
Similar to JCAHO (Joint Commission on the Accreditation of Healthcare Organizations) accreditation, PPMS consists of a series of stringent process and quality standards covering areas ranging from operational procedures and quality, to continuous improvement. Internal reviews are audited by external independent examiners to verify strict compliance.
This year PPMS added one new element requiring controls to support proper administration of the company’s IT systems and technical infrastructure to ensure availability of systems, integrity of applications and confidentiality of data.
Dave Sheil, Compliance Officer, said about the accomplishment: “the goal of all the controls put in place through PPMS is to ensure quality, consistency of processes, and continuous improvement. By increasing the integrity of everything that takes place in our organization, the system protects and benefits all our clients and the consumers we interact with on a daily basis. It is not a one-time effort and it requires a significant amount of planning, monitoring, and a quality mindset. I’d like to congratulate our staff, who is continuously dedicated to make this system successful.”
